New year eve samba restaurant2/26/2024 This can be a place “to be seen” by a certain type of society here…so at times I take a pass - not because of the restaurant itself, but because of the clientele.ģ. ![]() ![]() Small quarters with tight menu, serving local favorites. Remember that you can also enjoy firework bursts from the “backside” of the castle district overlooking the Buda hills….Ģ. Immediately outside of the castle district, say a 10-minute stroll to the Fisherman’s Bastion or 20 to get in front of palace (the bastion will likely have many people). This will be at the top-end of your budget or a bit above. Arany Kaviar - wonderful setting, with white-gloved service and exceptional dishes that present as well as they taste. But, see below ideas that are all well within a walk into the castle district where at midnight you will hopefully see quite a show:ġ. Okay - I am a bit hestitant, because dinner and stepping outside to see fireworks don’t align especially well in Budapest, as there are very few restaurants that will have a view of the firework bursts. What type of atmosphere, spend, and what time are you targeting dinner? Restaurants are another story……how old are the kids? Many places will go all out on NYE and it can be a bit stuffy IMO with a single seating with champagne, party favors etc (not unlike elsewhere). In good economic times, more people “burn” their money (the past decade has been great), while in leaner times (like the present) we’ll see much fewer bursts, but still a large number for certain. It’s quite fantastic actually, but I call that night “a sign of the economy”. In the shared video, if the videographer had panned right they would have captured thousands of more bursts. From in front of palace or from Fisherman’s bastion will give good views into the flats of Pest or head to the backside and watch the bursts in the hills of Buda. From those vantage points, you should likely see 1000’s of bursts. ![]() If you’d like to enjoy these, head to either Gellert Hill or to the castle district (both in city center on Buda side). Many households in the city and in the surrounding communities shoot off various bursts (some very large) seemingly all night, but mostly around midnight. As Vladimir shared, Budapest does not have an official fireworks show…but not all is lost.
